April 12: Cloverleaf in Bremerton w/David Testroet (6pm) -Always love getting to come back and play the Cloverleaf in Bremerton...and I haven't had the chance to work with David Testroet in many years. Saturday night show! -April 25 & 26: Cloverleaf in Bremerton w/Kermet Apio (Friday 6pm & 9pm, Saturday 9pm) -Kermet Apio is one of my favorite people in the world...and one of the funniest working comedians as well. Always proud of any chance to get to work with him! - May 29, June 2, 3 and 5: Beginning Stand-Up Comedy Class via UW-Experimental College -The spring session of this awesome class designed for absolute beginners to live out their stand-up comedy dreams is coming up in late January...and I'll be teaching it! 2013 Year In Review:
Oh, my poor neglected website! Things got very busy at the end of last year with the competitions and then the holidays...and then not a ton of things were happening.
Well, I did take on Joel Hodgson's "Movie Riff Camp", where we were taught by the MST3K creator how he riffs movies. And then I did get to actually riff a movie in front of a sold out audience at SIFF Uptown Theater, before Joel's one man show.
AND then, I went on a headlining comedy tour of the Balkans! I did shows in Zagreb, Croatia...Ljubljana, Slovenia...Belgrade, Serbia...and Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. I also presented two comedy workshops while I'm in Zagreb. (And I got to do a couple of sets while in London.) VERY EXCITING!
AND THEN...I taught the UW Experimental College "Beginning Stand-Up Comedy Class"...which culminated in a class show at the Comedy Underground, Seattle on May 16th.
AND AFTER THAT, I headlined at the 7 Cedars Casino, near Sequim (fun room, great crowd) and then went out and did two weeks of shows with the wonderfully funny Alycia Cooper. I even managed to be one of the judges for the finals of the Portland's Funniest Person competition, held at Helium Comedy Club in Portland...AND the Punchline Fridays Comedy Competition at Jai Thai in Seattle.
For the first time in three years, my home club booked me to feature a weekend. I spent the first weekend of November working the Comedy Underground in Seattle with 2011 Seattle International Comedy Competition champion Mike Baldwin. Lots of fun!
IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT...it was time for the 34th Annual Seattle International Comedy Competition. The 32 performers that I chose to participate gave it their all over the course of 22 shows from November 6th through December 1st until a new champion was named: Zoltan Kaszas (from San Marcos, California!) Zoltan is a worthy champion and it was an honor to help produce such an amazing event yet again.
I finished off the year with a gig at the Tulalip Casino with two-time Seattle International Comedy Competition finalist Rodger Lizaola (as well as Cory Michaelis and Nigel Larson.)
2013 was a good year...and I'm looking forward to more good things happening in 2014!
SFCC & SICC News:
